Tierra Hamer Dies After High-Speed Chase Ends in Broad River, Columbia

Columbia, South Carolina – In a tragic incident on Wednesday, Tierra Hamer, 23, lost her life after her vehicle plunged into the Broad River following a high-speed chase with Richland County deputies. The chase began when deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call at 1630 Longcreek Drive, near Broad River Road.

According to the report, the caller claimed that Hamer had struck him with her vehicle and attempted to do so again. When deputies arrived, Hamer fled, leading them on a chase that ended when she drove through the dead end of Omarest Drive and into the Broad River.

Despite the quick response of deputies, emergency services, and a dive team, Hamer’s vehicle was submerged in the river. Around an hour and a half later, her car was located. Unfortunately, despite medical efforts, Hamer was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department expressed their sorrow in a statement: "Our hearts are heavy with this loss of life, and we will continue to support the family, as well as our deputies."

Local resident Deborah Starks Good, who lives near the scene of the crash, voiced her concerns about safety in the area, calling for increased patrols due to the frequent disturbances. "If the Sheriff’s department would come and check a lot, I think it would get better," she said.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Other friends and acquaintances expressed their sympathies, including Mike Ebron, who wrote, "Praying for you," and B’Ray McGowan, who offered a heartfelt prayer: "Jesus, we dispatch your angels right now to every home of the Scott family. We know you to be a just God, and we command every diabolical spirit… to release it right now in the name of Jesus."

The community continues to rally around Tierra Hamer’s family, offering prayers, support, and calls for justice with the hashtag "#JusticeForTierra."
