Talladega, Alabama – Sara Lucretia Hurst, a beloved 72-year-old resident of Talladega, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. Sara was surrounded by her loving family during her final moments. A funeral ceremony will take place on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega, officiated by Josh Henderson and Greg Tankersly.
Sara, born in Fort Payne, Alabama, lived much of her life in Talladega, where she became an integral part of the community. She was a 1970 graduate of Talladega High School, where she excelled as a flutist in the marching band and as a swimmer, earning several accolades.
She dedicated 25 years of service to Cheaha Mental Health and was a devoted member of Southside Baptist Church. Outside of her professional work, Sara had a passion for crafting, including making custom greeting cards and sewing, and she was known for her love of gospel music.
Sara’s family, including her daughters Suzannah Wright and Jennifer Allison, and her grandchildren, deeply mourn her loss. A visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., just before the funeral service. She will be laid to rest at Pine Hill Memorial Park following the ceremony.
Family and friends have expressed their sorrow and shared condolences through heartfelt messages on Facebook. Jennifer Hurst Allison shared, “My sweet momma passed away this morning and is now resting in the arms of Jesus.”
