South Carolina Rodeo Community Mourns the Tragic Loss of 13-Year-Old Bull Rider Dalton Weise

Moncks Corner, South Carolina – The rodeo community in South Carolina is grieving the heartbreaking loss of 13-year-old Dalton Weise, a beloved young bull rider who died by suicide late Wednesday night. Dalton, a student at Berkeley High School, was well-regarded for his skill and passion in the rodeo circuit, particularly as a bull rider.

Dalton was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to reports. His tragic passing has left a deep void in the hearts of many, especially within the tight-knit rodeo community. His school district has responded by offering support resources on campus for those affected by this devastating event.

The South Carolina High School Rodeo Association expressed their sorrow, stating, "Our hearts are broken. Please keep our rodeo family in your prayers, especially the Weise family during this difficult time."

Moncks Corner Pro Rodeo also shared their condolences, writing, "We want to send our sincere condolences to the Weise family. Our hearts break for this family. God gained such a sweet angel. We will miss seeing this hometown cowboy in the arena."

Joshua Michael Cragar, one of Dalton’s teachers, shared a touching memory of the teen, stating, "Two years ago, I met one of the coolest 12-year-olds, Dalton Weise, who instantly melted my heart. Over the years, I watched his rodeo career flourish. Today, I received the heartbreaking call that Dalton is no longer with us. Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts."

In response to the loss, many have taken to social media to share their grief. Courtney Ward posted, "My heart is shattered for the Weise family… Please continue to pray for the family and those affected by the tragic loss of a special cowboy." Gus Teeter, a close friend of Dalton’s, updated his profile picture and shared, "#ridefordalton spur some down up stares for me Dalton… you were one of my best friends… every bull I get on is for you!"

Others, like Lisa Renee Nix and Bronwyn Brooks Burleson, also posted prayers for the Weise family and those impacted by this tragic loss.

Funeral arrangements for Dalton Weise will be announced by his family at a later date.
