Scarlett Mae Ortiz of Los Fresnos, Texas, Passes Away Peacefully at Age 6

Los Fresnos, TX – Scarlett Mae Ortiz, a beloved young soul, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 15, 2024. Surrounded by her loved ones, Scarlett’s life was filled with love and joy despite the many challenges she faced. She was just six years old.

Born on January 13, 2018, in Brownsville, Texas, Scarlett brought happiness and comfort to everyone she met with her radiant smile and heartwarming spirit. Raised by her aunt, Krystal Martinez, and uncle, Marco Rodriguez, with the support of her grandmother, Rafaela Martinez, Scarlett’s journey was one of remarkable resilience.

She will be remembered not only for her strength but also for her simple joys, such as listening to Disney Lullabies, watching La Rosa de Guadalupe, and enjoying car rides and rainy days. Scarlett’s bright personality left a lasting impact on all who knew her, and her infectious smile will forever remain in their hearts.

Scarlett is survived by her parents, Amanda Virginia Martinez and Hector Ortiz Jr.; her legal guardians, Krystal Martinez and Marco Rodriguez; and her siblings, Alice Rae Lozano, Riolu Amayah Ortiz, and Hiro Zaccai Ortiz. She also leaves behind her extended family, including her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many cousins who cherished her deeply.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A chapel service will follow on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., with burial to take place at Los Cuates Cemetery in Los Fresnos, Texas.

Scarlett Mae Ortiz’s passing has touched many, with an outpouring of condolences shared on social media. Sophie Camacho wrote, "Prayers with the family," while Rivera Rose commented, "She’s gone but not forgotten; she’s a beautiful angel." Nancy L Martinez added, "Our deepest condolences to the family."
