Sarah Ellis, a beloved member of the Waynesville community, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at Miami Valley Hospital-South. She was 96 years old. Born in Lebanon, Ohio, Sarah spent much of her life in Waynesville, where she had been a resident for over six decades.
Sarah Ellis graduated from Waynesville High School in the class of 1946. She was well-known in the community, particularly for her talent with alterations, having sewn for many families over the years. A lifelong Ohioan, she cherished her rural upbringing and was deeply rooted in local traditions.
Tributes to Sarah have flooded social media, highlighting her kindness and contributions to the community. "She did so many alterations for the Smith girls over the years! Such a sweet lady," wrote Shelley Smith Bailey in remembrance. Another friend, Lynn Click Johantges, shared, "Oh, I’m so sorry to see this! I just saw Sarah at the Village Restaurant with her daughter, Connie, a couple of weeks ago. Such a sweet woman."
