Samuel Boyd Butler, Beloved Member of West Point Community, Passes Away at 76

Samuel “Boyd” Butler, a respected and long-standing resident of West Point, passed away on September 15, 2024, at the age of 76. Butler died at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point, leaving behind a legacy cherished by his family, friends, and the community.

Born on June 13, 1948, to Samuel Lafayette Butler and Sara Jordan “Bitsy” Weaver, Boyd Butler graduated from West Point High School in 1966. Known for his deep roots in the community, he is fondly remembered by many.

Condolences and tributes have been pouring in on social media. Sherry Cockrill expressed her heartfelt support, saying, “Prayers for mom’s last first cousin’s family. I love you all.” Tori Lippincott Mathis shared her sorrow, stating, “Oh no! I’m so sad to read this.
