Remembering Karen Jean Hoppe – Beloved Ham Lake Resident Dies After a Courageous Battle with Breast Cancer

Karen Jean Hoppe, aged 65, of Ham Lake, Minnesota, has passed away after a brave seven-year fight with breast cancer. Karen, who was born in September 1946 in Marion, Wisconsin, died on October 23, 2011. Her passing marks a significant loss to her community and loved ones.

Karen was known for her active involvement in her church and her dedication to volunteer work. She served as an ESL instructor, a certified braillist, and coordinated the Braille and Tape Ministry of the ELCA for 22 years. Her passions extended to bird watching, road trips, and supporting the Green Bay Packers.

Karen is survived by her husband, John; her children, Dana (Mike) Connor and William (Anna) Hoppe; four grandchildren; and her brother, Ronald (Kathy) Fetter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Irene and George Fetter.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in East Bethel, with a Christian Service scheduled for Friday at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow at the old Our Saviour’s church cemetery in Ham Lake.

Tributes have poured in from the community. Ron Malueg commented, “RIP KAREN,” while Merlin Marquardt shared, “Karen is/was a wonderful girl and woman. I miss her and also her wonderful parents.” Karen’s contributions and the love she fostered will be remembered by all who knew her.
