Prominent Muslim Community Leader Muhammad Akram Chowdhry Passes Away in Ottawa

Muhammad Akram Chowdhry, a respected figure in the Muslim community of Ottawa, has passed away on September 14, 2024. Chowdhry, a pioneering member of the Ottawa Muslim Association and a founding member of Jami Omar, was known for his significant contributions as a community leader and Treasurer.

The Janazah Prayer will be held on September 15, 2024, at Jami Omar, following the Zuhr prayer at 1:30 PM. He will be laid to rest at the Ottawa Muslim Cemetery.

Tributes have been pouring in from the community. Fariha Irshad expressed her sorrow with “Inna Lillah Wainna Ilayhi Raji’un,” while Rawieda Khatib offered her condolences with “Allah yerhamu.”

Chowdhry’s legacy of dedication and service to the Muslim community will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
