New Zealand Man Bradley Douglas Dies in Tragic Bus Accident Near Clapham Junction in London

London, UK – Bradley Douglas, a 25-year-old man from Whangarei, New Zealand, tragically passed away after being struck by a bus near Clapham Junction Station in South London last October. Bradley had only recently moved to the UK as part of an overseas exchange program when the fatal incident occurred.

The accident took place after Bradley had been out with friends and was asked to leave the Clapham Grand entertainment venue due to intoxication. Shortly after reuniting with his friends, he stepped into the road and was hit by a bus making a right-hand turn onto St John’s Hill. The bus driver attempted to brake but was unable to avoid the collision, and Bradley sustained a catastrophic brain injury.

Despite being rushed to St George’s University Hospital in Tooting, doctors were unable to save him. Bradley’s injuries were declared unsurvivable, and after his parents flew in from New Zealand, they made the heart-wrenching decision to withdraw life support. He passed away on October 11, 2023.

Tributes have poured in, with many remembering Bradley as a kind and special person. His family honored his memory by donating his organs, a gesture that has been praised as a selfless act.

Facebook users also shared their condolences. Maureen Alexander commented, “That is so heartbreaking.” Keith Dowling wrote, “RIP young man.” These sentiments reflect the outpouring of grief felt by those who knew him.

An inquest held at Inner West London Coroner’s Court confirmed that Bradley had died from a traumatic brain injury caused by the collision. Assistant Coroner Jean Harkin expressed condolences to the family, acknowledging the profound tragedy of their loss.
