Michael Daymon Mathis, Renowned Local Gun Expert, Passes Away at Age 76

Michael Daymon Mathis, a respected local authority on firearms and a beloved community figure in Crandall, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at the age of 76. He died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Michael Mathis was widely known for his expertise on guns and his willingness to help those in need. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daymon and Ruth-Ann Mathis, as well as his son, Michael Carter Mathis.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kristen Mathis, along with his two sons, Zachary Mathis and Casey Douglas Mathis, as well as his brother, Douglas T. Mathis. Numerous cousins and extended family members also mourn his passing. A memorial service will be held at a later date to honor his life and legacy.

Tributes and condolences flooded social media in response to the news of his death. "Always liked Michael, we all grew up together in Crandall. Prayers for his family," wrote Shirley Bartley. Another friend, George-Alicia Bryant, shared, "So sorry to hear this. Praying for all the families. Grew up with him, he was a wonderful person."

Funeral arrangements are being handled with care and integrity by Shawn Chapman Funeral Home, Crematory, and Monuments.
