Marla Jean Bain Passes Away at 66 After Year-Long Battle with Cancer

Marla Jean Bain, a vibrant and beloved resident of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away on September 9, 2024, at the age of 66 after a courageous battle with cancer. Known for her infectious spirit and love for life, Marla was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1957, and lived her life to the fullest, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she met.

She was widely remembered for her joy, eccentric personality, and her unwavering strength. Marla brought energy and love to every gathering, especially at her 30th class reunion where she was the life of the party. Friends and family recall her positive attitude and readiness to offer help and support.

Marla is survived by her ex-husband and best friend, Patrick Bain, her children Adam McMurtry and his wife Melissa, and daughter Taylor Bain. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Paige, Hannah, and Atlas. In addition, she is survived by her brothers Jimmy, Stuart, Keith, and Lou, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Phyllis, and stepfather Bill Burton.

A celebration of her life will take place at the Moose Lodge on September 29th, 2024, at 12 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Goodfellow Shoe Fund, a charity dear to Marla’s heart. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Friends and loved ones expressed their condolences on social media. "Our condolences go out to Patrick Bain & his family with the loss of Marla," wrote SusanTom Tuenge-Collins. "May you be pain-free now," she added, reflecting the sentiments of many who knew her.
