Jacksonville, FL – Maria Cusano Tomlin, an 80-year-old woman originally from Naples, Italy, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2024. Born in 1944, Maria was known for her love of family, her Italian heritage, and her strong sense of community. Her journey in life took her from Naples to the United States, where she built a life filled with love and resilience.
Maria’s legacy of devotion began when she married Billy Tomlin and moved to the U.S. in 1970. Arriving with little more than hope and determination, she taught herself English and worked tirelessly to create a home filled with love and warmth. Her family was central to her life, and she was a loving mother to two children, as well as a doting grandmother to six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Maria was an active member of the Italian-American Club, where she shared her love for Italian culture, particularly her passion for cooking and her generous nature. Her home was known for its immaculate lawn and, of course, her delicious pasta dishes. Friends and family were always welcome, and she embodied the values of selflessness and joy.
A graveside service will be held in her honor on Monday, September 23, 2024, at 9:30 AM at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, where Maria will be laid to rest beside her husband, Billy. A Celebration of Life will follow at her son’s home.
