Manchester, NH – Walter Leo Zimmermann, a long-time resident of Manchester, New Hampshire, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the age of 82 after a period of declining health. Born on July 31, 1942, in Newark, NJ, Walter was the only son of Leo and Johanna Zimmermann, who had emigrated from Germany.

Walter Zimmermann spent over forty years at Southern New Hampshire University (formerly New Hampshire College), where he was deeply involved in the academic community as both a Registrar and Professor of Psychology. He is survived by his three daughters: Johanna Nichols, Karen Ruzicka, and Margery Zimmermann, along with three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

In accordance with his wishes, no formal services will be held. The family invites contributions to the Walter Zimmermann Scholarship Fund at Southern New Hampshire University or to a charity of choice in his honor.
