Longtime Phillipsburg Resident and Genealogist Bernus Werner Passes Away at 92

Bernus Werner, a cherished member of the Phillipsburg, Kansas community, has passed away at the age of 92. Werner, who was born on May 3, 1932, and died on September 7, 2024, was deeply involved with the Church of Christ in Phillipsburg and left a significant impact on those around her.

Werner was renowned for her dedication to preserving family history through her extensive genealogical work. She was a beloved aunt and friend, known for her warm hospitality and the special memories she created for her nieces and nephews, including fishing trips, baking, and making Werner Salad.

"The Werner family would like to thank everyone in the community who has helped Aunt Bernus throughout the years," said Brenda Piper, one of Werner’s nieces. "Her life truly revolved around the Church, and she made each of us feel at home with her favorite foods and desserts."

Tributes have poured in from across the community. Denise Mohlman commented, "Prayers and hugs for you and the family," while Marsha Kuhlman expressed her condolences, saying, "Sorry for your loss."

Bernus Werner will be remembered for her generous spirit and dedication to her family and community.
