Lexington Resident Jimmy Porter Brown Dies at 71, Surrounded by Family

Lexington, Kentucky – It is with deep sadness that we report the passing of Jimmy Porter Brown, a longtime resident of Lexington, Kentucky, who died at the age of 71. Jimmy passed away on September 7, 2024, at St. Joseph Hospital, with his family by his side.

Born on April 9, 1953, to Harold Porter Brown and Lorene Prather Brown, Jimmy dedicated his life to both his family and his career as a truck driver. His commitment to his loved ones was evident throughout his life, and he was cherished by all who knew him.

Jimmy is preceded in death by several family members, including his parents, brother Orvis Brown, sister Donna Jones, grandson Cooper Brown, and daughter-in-law Amy French Brown.

He is survived by his four sons: Jimmy Porter Brown Jr., William “Billy” Westley Brown, Brandon Lee Brown, and Justin Lynn Brown. Jimmy also leaves behind many grandchildren and was particularly proud of his close relationship with his siblings and their spouses: Alice Dotson, Linda Rayburn, Betty Loman, and Doris Griffith. His extended family, including nieces, nephews, and cousins, will remember him fondly, along with numerous friends.

A visitation service is scheduled for Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home on Harrodsburg Road in Lexington. His funeral will take place on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the same location, with burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Jimmy’s life was filled with love and devotion to his family, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
