Largo Resident Jeanette Benthall, 85, Dies Following Collision with On-Duty Officer

Largo, Maryland – Jeanette Benthall, an 85-year-old resident of Largo, tragically passed away after being involved in a car accident with an on-duty Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) patrol officer. The accident occurred at the intersection of Campus Way South and Joyceton Drive on September 9, 2024, at approximately 11:20 a.m.

Both drivers, including the officer, were transported to a local hospital for treatment immediately following the crash. Unfortunately, Ms. Benthall succumbed to her injuries and passed away on September 14, 2024. The patrol officer involved in the collision has since been released from the hospital.

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating the cause of the crash. Detectives are reviewing any available video evidence and seeking additional witnesses to understand the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
