Joseph Preston Light of Forest, Kentucky, Passes Away at 66

Forest, Kentucky – Joseph Preston Light, a beloved 66-year-old resident of Forest, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, September 15, 2024. Born on June 14, 1958, in West Liberty, Kentucky, Joe was known for his dedication to family, faith, and personal passions. His sudden departure has left a deep void in the hearts of his loved ones.

Joe was the son of Ramon O. Light and Annette Gay (Lacy) Light, both of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Pamela (McCarter) Light, and their four children, Zachary, Nicholas, Jacob, and Jessica. Joe’s legacy also lives on through his five grandchildren and extended family members, including siblings, in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

A Frankfort High School graduate, Joe was briefly involved in college football at Wabash College until a knee injury cut his athletic career short. He worked for many years at Federal Mogul before retiring early due to health issues. In 1997, Joe dedicated his life to Jesus and was baptized at Michigantown Christian Church, solidifying his deep faith.

Joe was known for his love of sports, his passion for collecting guns and pocket knives, and his casual style, often donning bib overalls and team shirts. He never missed a game when it came to watching his children play sports and found immense joy in spending time with his grandchildren.

Visitation services for Joe will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, followed by a funeral service on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at St. Paul Cemetery in Forest.

Joseph Preston Light will be remembered for his devotion to family and faith, leaving behind cherished memories that will continue to impact all those who knew him.
