Joseph Hernandez, Beloved Little Rajah Coach from Indio, California, Dies; Family and Community Mourn

Indio, California – Joseph Hernandez, a cherished figure in the Indio community and coach for the Little Rajah football program, has passed away this past weekend. His death has deeply affected his family, friends, and the local community, who remember him as a devoted husband, father, and coach.

Hernandez attended Coachella Valley High School from 1974 to 1978, where he made a lasting impact on the football field. He played three memorable games against Indio High School, earning recognition as an All-CIF selection. Hernandez still holds the school’s all-time rushing record, accumulating around 2,400 yards during his junior and senior years.

In addition to his athletic accomplishments, Hernandez was known for his role as a coach in the Little Rajah football program. He played a vital part in shaping young athletes, and his loss has left a significant void in the lives of those who knew him.

To support Hernandez’s family during this difficult time, the coaches and players from the Little Rajah Program are organizing a car wash fundraiser. The event will take place on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. at O’Reilly’s in Indio, located on Highway 111.
