Ian Duchemin of Old Saybrook Dies in Tragic Boat Crash, Memorial Fundraiser Launched

Old Saybrook, Connecticut – Ian Duchemin, a compassionate and beloved member of the community, tragically lost his life in a boat crash on September 2, 2024. The accident occurred when the boat he was in collided with a jetty in Old Saybrook.

Ian was known for his kind-hearted nature and his readiness to lend a hand whenever needed. He was especially cherished by his parents, Denine and Craig, his partner Haley, and numerous friends. Ian’s love for helping others, particularly when faced with mechanical issues, earned him a special place in the hearts of many who knew him.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by Amy L’Heureux Schmardel to support Ian’s family with funeral expenses. The fundraiser also aims to establish a scholarship in Ian’s memory, benefiting trade school students, reflecting his passion for his career path. The page has a goal of raising $25,000, and the community is encouraged to contribute or share the fundraiser.
