Highlands Ranch Resident Mark Herrin Dies of Heart Attack During Hunting Trip Near Aspen, Funeral Arrangements Pending

Highlands Ranch, Colorado – The Pitkin County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the tragic death of 60-year-old Mark Herrin, a resident of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, during a hunting trip near Aspen. Herrin passed away from an acute myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack, on Friday, September 6, 2024, while hunting up Independence Pass.

Herrin was in the remote wilderness near Lincoln Creek Road, southeast of Aspen, when he suffered the fatal medical emergency. His hunting guide attempted emergency lifesaving measures while waiting for medical services, but unfortunately, Herrin was pronounced dead at the scene.

A beloved outdoorsman, Herrin spent much of his life hunting and exploring Colorado’s wilderness. Friends and family remember him as a man who found peace in nature and loved sharing his passion for the outdoors.
