Greenbrier High School Student Gordon Carmichael Tragically Passes Away in Evans Car Crash

Evans, Georgia – Gordon Carmichael, a 15-year-old student from Greenbrier High School, tragically passed away in a car crash on Thursday morning. The young sophomore, who played football for his school, was involved in a fatal accident on Riverwood Parkway and Amberley Drive.

The incident occurred after Carmichael reportedly drove his parents’ Jeep late at night. He lost control of the vehicle and collided with pine trees. The crash was discovered around 4:30 a.m. Thursday morning, and authorities were alerted when his mother found him missing and reported it to the police at approximately 5:50 a.m.

In response to the tragedy, Greenbrier High School officials canceled all of Thursday’s athletic events as a mark of respect for the young student and to support the grieving community.

The news of Gordon Carmichael’s untimely death has sparked an outpouring of grief and condolences from the community. Many took to social media to express their sorrow and offer prayers for his family.

Teena L. Nance shared, “My heart aches for his family and those who knew him. Such a difficult loss.”

Carol Schooley Gattis added, “Prayer for strength and peace of mind as the family goes forward. So sad.”

Rose Luke wrote, “Lord, be merciful to those affected; directly or indirectly.”

Glenda Jolly Hathorn also expressed her sympathy, stating, “I am so very sorry. Prayers for the family and friends.”

Ann Rushton Bowles echoed the sentiment, “Too, too sad. Praying for his family and dear friends.”

The community is deeply mourning the loss of a promising young life, and the thoughts and prayers of many remain with the Carmichael family during this difficult time.
