Ginny Griego and Orlando Villarraga Suffer Severe Injuries in Santa Marta Car Accident; Family Launches Fundraiser for Their Recovery

Santa Marta, Colombia – Ginny Griego and her son, Orlando Villarraga, were severely injured in a major car accident on Sunday, September 8, 2024, when a large truck’s brakes failed, leading to a collision. The truck plummeted into a group of cars stationed at the bottom of a hill, right at the entrance of a tollbooth in Santa Marta.

Ginny and Orlando were in Colombia for a trip with the Aniwa foundation, an organization dedicated to amplifying the voices of Indigenous leaders. Unfortunately, both mother and son suffered injuries in the crash, with Ginny sustaining the most severe ones. She was diagnosed with a broken wrist, fractured ribs, intestinal damage, and complications from a rare blood disease, which has led to an extended stay in the ICU.

Ginny, a beloved member of the spiritual community, and her family are now seeking financial support to cover the mounting medical and legal expenses. Due to her serious condition, Ginny will be unable to travel for many months and will remain in Colombia to continue her recovery.

A fundraiser has been organized by Natasha Villarraga to assist with these costs, including the expenses of relocating to Colombia where Ginny is receiving medical care. As of today, $100 has been raised out of the $50,000 goal, with two anonymous donations contributing $50 each.

The family expresses their gratitude for the outpouring of messages and prayers and urges those who are able to contribute to this recovery effort. Every donation, no matter the amount, will help support Ginny and Orlando in their long healing process.

For those wishing to donate or share their support, Natasha Villarraga, the organizer of the fundraiser, can be contacted in Brooklyn, NY, while Orlando Villarraga is listed as the beneficiary.
