Floyd Elmer Kirk, aged 84, peacefully passed away at his home in Inez, Kentucky on September 14, 2024. Born on June 15, 1940, to Floyd and Clementine (Hensley) Kirk, Floyd was a dedicated Disciple of Jesus known for his passionate witnessing and devotion to his faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rowena Elliott Kirk, and siblings Morgan Arther Kirk and Mary Lilian Fannin, as well as stepson Tennis Ray Sansom. Floyd is survived by his six children: Richard Dale Sansom, Selma Jean Sansom (Perry), Elmer Jr (Lisa) Kirk, Everett (Wanda) Kirk, Paul Kirk, and John Herman (Regina) Kirk, along with 24 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. His surviving siblings include Harriet (Paul) Meade, Idamae (Kenneth) Ward, Lorna (James) Cassady, John Roy (Tammy) Kirk, Norma (Brent) McCornick, and Joe Thomas Kirk.
Visitation is set to take place at New Friendship United Baptist Church starting September 15, 2024, with funeral services scheduled for September 17, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Kirk Memorial Cemetery. Floyd’s passing has sparked an outpouring of support, with condolences and prayers shared widely on social media.
