Esteemed Music Teacher and Violinist Guru T.R. Vijayakumar Passes Away in Singapore

Guru T.R. Vijayakumar, a respected music teacher and violinist, passed away on September 17, 2024, leaving behind a rich legacy in the world of Indian classical music. Known for his dedication, he spent over two decades teaching vocal and violin in Singapore, with the last two years at the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society (SIFAS), where he shared his expertise in violin.

The news of his passing has left the community in shock. Social media was flooded with messages of condolences and tributes to the late guru. "Saw him last week at the 75th SIFAS day. So sad. May his soul rest in peace," wrote Krishnapuram V Godha. Many others, including Rajaraman Iyer and Nivi Kishore, expressed their grief with messages such as "Ram Ram, very sad" and "Om Shanti."

The last rites and cremation are scheduled for September 18, 2024, as announced by SIFAS. His passing marks the loss of a deeply respected figure in the arts community of Singapore. Guru T.R. Vijayakumar will be remembered for his immense contributions to Indian classical music and the countless students he mentored during his career.
