David Suddes of BDS Motorcycles Passes Away After Traumatic Head Injury at East Fortune Circuit

Edinburgh, Scotland – David Suddes, the beloved boss and mentor at BDS Motorcycles, passed away peacefully at 12:15 a.m. on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. He sustained a traumatic head injury during a race at the East Fortune Circuit, from which there was no recovery. His family and close friends were by his side during his final moments.

David’s death has deeply affected the motorcycle community, where he was not only a skilled professional but also a mentor and inspiration to many. BDS Motorcycles announced that the business would remain open but asked for patience during this difficult time for David’s family and staff.

The motorcycle racing community and others close to David have taken to Facebook to express their condolences and share their memories. BDS Motorcycles posted, "It’s with great sadness that we are posting this today. Our Boss and amazing mentor David Suddes died peacefully… Unfortunately, he sustained a traumatic head injury during a race at East Fortune Circuit from which there was no recovery."

Rod Walker shared, "RIP Dave, it’s been a pleasure and education knowing you and your staff over the many years we raced and got our bikes made race-ready, forever in our hearts."

Des Burns added, "R.I.P Pal, the paddock will never be the same without you. Until we race again."

Jason Cooper reflected on David’s support for charity, stating, "Dave, along with Karen & Joe at BDS, has been a major supporter of our charity, Northumbria Blood Bikes, taking care of our fleet of bikes for quite a number of years."

Others, like Troy Jeffrey Racing #21, simply expressed their grief with, "Devastated. RIP Dave. Ride high #122."

Steve Nicoll expressed disbelief at the loss, stating, "Totally gutted. We had good crack and jokes on Friday night. Still can’t believe we lost a true gentleman and loved guy."

The outpouring of love and respect continued with Gavin Clarke, who posted, "O my Lord David, on behalf of all the scooter community, we really hope that the Lord God gives the best place for you to rest in peace, I’m shocked."

David Suddes’ passing has left a void in the hearts of many, as he was remembered not only for his expertise but also for his kindness, humor, and dedication to the people around him. His contributions to both the motorcycle world and his local community will be long remembered.
