Hughesville, Maryland – Connor McCarthy, a 20-year-old resident of Mechanicsville, tragically lost his life in a motorcycle crash early Sunday morning, September 15, 2024.
The accident occurred around 2:40 a.m. on Maryland Route 5, just south of Old Leonardtown Road. McCarthy was riding a 2008 Suzuki GSXR-750 when he reportedly failed to navigate a curve, causing the motorcycle to lose control and crash into a guardrail.
Maryland State Police have indicated that speed, alcohol, and driver error might have played significant roles in the crash. McCarthy was pronounced dead at the scene.
