Community Rallying to Support Former San Quentin Kings Coach Orlando Harris After Devastating Car Accident

Oakland, California – Orlando Harris, a former coach of the San Quentin Kings basketball team, is facing a challenging situation following a serious car accident. Harris was recently involved in a collision when a driver crashed into his parked vehicle while he and his girlfriend were inside. The impact caused Harris’s car to hit another vehicle.

The driver responsible for the accident had minimal insurance coverage, leaving Harris with significant financial burdens, including medical expenses and damage to his car. Furthermore, Harris is now facing a lawsuit from the driver of the car hit by his vehicle.

In response to these hardships, a fundraiser has been organized by Edward Saltveit to support Harris during this difficult time. As of now, the campaign has raised $700 of its $18,000 goal. The fundraiser highlights Harris’s contributions and struggles, as he has been rebuilding his life in Oakland after being released from San Quentin during the pandemic.

Saltveit, who is also a coach of the Bittermen basketball team, emphasizes the importance of supporting Harris, noting his past dedication to helping others while incarcerated. The campaign aims to alleviate some of the financial strain on Harris, who is also caring for his injured girlfriend and elderly mother.

Donations are being solicited to help Harris cover his medical and car-related expenses, with contributions ranging from $5 to $5,000. The community’s support is seen as a vital gesture of solidarity for Harris during this unforeseen crisis.

For those interested in contributing, the fundraiser remains open for donations, and Saltveit encourages anyone who can help to do so.
