Billy Edward Cook of Jamestown, KY, Dies at Age 54 at Russell County Hospital

Jamestown, Kentucky – Billy Edward Cook, a 54-year-old resident of Jamestown, KY, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Russell County Hospital. Born on December 2, 1969, in Somerset, Billy was a well-loved member of his community and a devoted family man.

Billy’s passing has left a profound impact on his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ida Lyons Burdine and Gerald Cook. He is survived by his loving wife, Jessica Dishman Cook, and their children, Emily Cook and Joseph Cook. He also leaves behind two step-daughters, Katlyn Guffey of Monticello, KY, and Alisha Cook of Jamestown, KY.

Billy’s family meant everything to him. His surviving siblings include three sisters, Sandy Vaughn of Whitley City, KY, Bonnie Rankin of Lexington, KY, and Tina Caldwell of Healdton, OK, as well as two brothers, Stoney Cook of Somerset, KY, and Gary Cook of Monticello, KY. Billy was also a proud grandfather to Kaira Guffey and Alec Guffey, and he was surrounded by numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends, including his best friend, Charles Durham.

Billy worked as a cook at Dairy Queen, where he was well-known for his culinary skills and friendly nature. A man of deep faith, Billy was a member of the Baptist Church and actively participated in community service. His passion for sports, especially football, basketball, and baseball, was well-known. He loved playing golf and frequently attended games with his family.

A celebration of Billy’s life will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 3:00 PM at the Cook family residence, located at 131 Lawless Lane, Jamestown, KY. The service will be officiated by Bro. Christian Naylor, with Wilson Funeral Home handling the arrangements.

Billy Edward Cook will be remembered for his kindness, love for his family, and dedication to his community. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
