Beloved Nurse Marilyn Jean Simon Passes Away at 89, Leaving Behind a Legacy of Compassion

Marilyn Jean Simon (née Leet), a cherished figure in her community and a dedicated nurse, passed away on September 10, 2024, in Inverness, Illinois. She was 89 years old. Born on February 6, 1935, in Washington, Iowa, Simon spent a lifetime dedicated to caring for others in her professional capacity as a nurse, serving from 1956 until her retirement in 2000.

Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Minnie Leet, her sister, brother, and her husband, Phillip Simon. She is survived by her children, Steven (Ruth), Daniel, Donn, Richard (Judith), and Jennifer Simon, as well as her grandchildren Tasha, Katherine, Scott, and Andrew (Maci), great-grandchildren Jeremy, Jared, Kylie, Joseph, Owen, and Scarlett, and great-great-grandchildren Elias and Wesley.

The funeral arrangements include a visitation on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, from 10 AM to 12 PM at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home in Palatine, with interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington, IL.

Tributes from the community highlight Marilyn’s kindness and her impact on those around her.
