Beloved McPherson, KS Native Peter Dale Flemming Dies at Age 75, Leaves Behind a Legacy of Love and Dedication

McPherson, KS – Peter “Pete” Dale Flemming, a beloved member of the McPherson community, passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on September 5, 2024. Surrounded by his loving family, Pete’s death leaves a profound sense of loss among those who knew him.

Born on August 22, 1949, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Pete was the eldest of four children. His family later relocated to McPherson, Kansas, where he graduated from McPherson High School in 1967. In 1968, Pete met Peggy Stegeman, who would become his wife of nearly 55 years. The couple married on November 1, 1969, and built a life full of love, family, and devotion.

Pete’s professional journey included working at Femco and CertainTeed Machinery. He also played a key role in the success of Plastics Extrusion Machinery (PEM). After a long and dedicated career, Pete retired in 2018.

Beyond his career, Pete’s passions included restoring classic cars, particularly his 1975 Corvette, and cheering for his favorite sports teams, the Raiders, Kansas City Royals, and Kansas State University football. He also had a love for rock-and-roll music and Clint Eastwood films.

However, Pete’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Whether playing games, watching movies, or supporting their activities, “Papa” was always present and devoted.

He is survived by his wife Peggy, their three children—P. Scott Flemming of Wichita, Wade Flemming of Haysville, and Emily Fisher of La Mesa, California—and three grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings and a large extended family.

A graveside service to honor Peter Dale Flemming will be held on September 14, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at McPherson Cemetery. His legacy of love, humor, and devotion will continue to be cherished by his family and friends.
