Beloved Matriarch Merlyn Belle Lindley Passes Away at 100, Leaving a Legacy of Faith and Family

Merlyn Belle Lindley, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at the age of 100. She spent her final moments at Thrive at Brow Wood Assisted Living, where she was lovingly cared for by the dedicated staff.

A devout Christian, Merlyn was a former member of the Mountain View Presbyterian Church. She was remembered for her unwavering faith and dedication to her family. Her headstone will bear the inscription "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," a reflection of her deep religious beliefs.

Merlyn was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Winston A. Lindley. She is survived by her son, Gary (Patricia) Lindley, and daughter, Joan (David) Stanton, along with her eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Family members shared fond memories of her, with Patricia Lindley posting, “Safe in the Arms of Jesus.”

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 17, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery, where Rev. Eric Duble will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Covenant College, Lookout Mountain, Georgia, in her memory.

Merlyn Belle Lindley’s passing marks the end of a long and full life, rich with love, faith, and family.
