Beloved Kentucky Coal Truck Driver Bruce Edward Moon Passes Away After Battle with Cancer

Bruce Edward Moon, a respected coal truck driver and mechanic from Pike County, Kentucky, has died at the age of 72 after a courageous battle with cancer. Moon, known affectionately as "Moonpie" and "Half Moon," passed away on September 14, 2024, at Tug Valley ARH.

Moon was celebrated for his generosity and friendly demeanor. He was a fixture in his community, often seen driving his pickup truck around Meathouse Fork, Kentucky, where he earned the nicknames “The Mayor of Meathouse” and “The Meathouse Mascot.” His impact on those around him was evident in the heartfelt tributes shared on social media.

“He was always smiling and a good man and friendly to everyone,” wrote Missy Thacker. “He will be missed for sure.”

Funeral services will be held at Canada Freewill Baptist Church on September 17, 2024, with burial at Mountain View Memory Gardens. R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry, Kentucky, is handling arrangements.
