Beloved Grand Saline Resident Malinda Jane Crow Looney Passes Away at Age 87

Malinda Jane Crow Looney, a longtime resident of Grand Saline, Texas, passed away on September 14, 2024, at the age of 87. Mrs. Looney was born on May 19, 1937, in Quinlan, Texas, to Willie and Bertha Frances Dool Crow. A dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Grand Saline, she had lived in the community since 1960.

Mrs. Looney retired in 1998 after 27 years of service with Titus Manufacturing/ASC in Terrell. She was an active member and leader of several organizations, including the District 30 VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Friends of the Library, Omega Phi Sorority, and the Red Hat Society. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting and playing Pokeno.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Abner “Sam” Looney, as well as her children and stepchildren, including Donald Waits, Danny Waits, Daina Ashton, Dawn Erwin, and Samuel Looney. Mrs. Looney also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other family members.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Bartley Funeral Home. Mrs. Looney will be laid to rest at Woodside Cemetery.

Friends and family have shared their heartfelt condolences. "Such a sweet person," wrote Penny Heddin, while Debbie Taylor commented, "Sweet sweet lady! Prayers going up for family."

Mrs. Looney will be deeply missed by her family and the Grand Saline community.
