Antigonish Resident Francis Jamieson Dies at 53 After Battling Leukemia for Nine Months

Antigonish, Nova Scotia – Francis Jamieson, a beloved resident of Antigonish, passed away at the age of 53 on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Guysborough Memorial Hospital. His family was by his side as he peacefully succumbed to a nine-month battle with leukemia.

Born on March 16, 1971, to Mabel and Aubrey Jamieson, Francis was known for his warm personality and ability to engage with anyone. He had a wide circle of friends and was cherished by his family. His work driving trucks and clearing roads during the winters in Canso left a lasting impact on his community.

Francis is survived by his wife, Carrie Beth, his father Aubrey, and several siblings, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, many of whom have shared fond memories of him. He was predeceased by his mother, Mabel, and mother-in-law, Maxine Dobson.

Visitation for Francis will take place on Saturday, September 14, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home in Canso. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 15, at 11:00 a.m. at the Anglican Parish of All Saints by the Sea Church in Canso. Family and friends are encouraged to wear plaid in his honor. Cremation will follow, with burial in the church cemetery.
