Angel Aleman and Lydia Hernandez Identified as Victims in Mackenzie Park Double Homicide in Lubbock

Lubbock, Texas – The Lubbock Police Department has identified Angel Aleman, 55, and Lydia Hernandez, 47, as the victims in a double homicide at Mackenzie Park on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.

Police responded to the 300 block of Cesar E. Chavez Drive after reports of gunfire at 8:18 a.m. Upon arrival, authorities found Aleman deceased at the scene. Hernandez, suffering from severe injuries, was transported to University Medical Center, where she later died. In addition, Aleman’s dog was found dead at the location, adding to the heartbreak surrounding this incident.

The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made. The Lubbock Police Department, in collaboration with the Anti-Gang Unit and Forensic Unit, is seeking any information that could aid in solving this case. The police urge anyone with details to contact Crime Line at (806) 741-1000.

The community is mourning the loss of Aleman and Hernandez, both of whom were well-loved. Friends and family have taken to social media to share their grief.

As the investigation continues, Lubbock residents remain united in their call for justice while extending condolences to the victims’ families.
