Albuquerque Resident Betty Gatewood Passes Away; Family Launches Fundraiser for Memorial Services

Albuquerque, New Mexico – Betty Gatewood, a beloved member of the Albuquerque community, passed away suddenly on September 13, 2024. Her family, devastated by the loss, is now seeking help to cover the expenses for her cremation, funeral services, and a celebration of life reception.

Betty’s son, Dewayne Gatewood, organized a GoFundMe fundraiser to raise $6,500 to cover the costs, which include cremation services, preparation, transportation, an urn, death certificates, and a cremation permit totaling $4,700. Additionally, the funeral service and reception space, along with taxes and fees, amount to $1,800.

So far, the fundraiser has received $250 from three generous donors: Sophia Alvarez, who contributed $50, and Gina Doyebi and Jeannie Duncan, who both donated $100 each. The family is asking for further support from friends, relatives, and the community.

“We are absolutely devastated by the loss of my mother, Betty Gatewood. This was very sudden and unexpected for us,” wrote Dewayne in the fundraiser post.

Donations to help the Gatewood family can be made through the GoFundMe page. The family expresses their deep gratitude for any support during this difficult time.
