17-Year-Old Brynn Renee Nelson of Rapid City Tragically Dies in Car Accident

Rapid City, South Dakota – Brynn Renee Nelson, a beloved 17-year-old from Rapid City, tragically passed away in a car accident, leaving her community heartbroken. Born on May 9, 2007, Brynn was a vibrant and joyful presence, known for her infectious personality and bright blue eyes that captured the hearts of everyone she met.

Brynn, a talented individual, excelled in numerous activities, including gymnastics, softball, basketball, volleyball, archery, and track. She was particularly renowned for her success in archery and javelin, competing at the state and national levels. As a high school student, she shone brightly in softball and track, holding a state record in javelin. She won the Howard Wood Relays as a freshman and continued to claim victories at the South Dakota State Track Meet.

Her family and friends remember her as the life of the party, always bringing joy and warmth wherever she went. Brynn was a talented baker, and her creative skills in cake decoration were admired by many. She shared a close bond with her family, especially her father, with whom she shared a love for archery.

Brynn’s legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched. Her loving family, including her parents Brendan and Jacki Nelson, brother Kadin, and her cherished dog, Penny, will forever remember the light she brought to their lives.

A celebration of Brynn’s life was held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid City. Those attending were encouraged to wear bright, cheerful clothing to honor Brynn’s vibrant personality.

On social media, many have expressed their grief and support for Brynn’s family. Mike Kieffer shared, “Never hesitate to tell your people you love them… I love you Brynn Renee Nelson. I would do anything for you to be around to hear it.” Others, such as Jami Gropper and Kyal Joe Middletent, offered their prayers, while Teagan Gourneau commented, “My condolences coach, love ya man.”

Brynn’s impact will never be forgotten, and her memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to those who knew and loved her. Rest in peace, Brynn Renee Nelson.
